New Camera Lens

New Camera Lens

Since I am getting into portrait photography, I wanted to start shooting with a 50mm portrait lens. The Canon 50mm 1.4 lens I originally wanted was $349 and I was not down to pay that at all. At least, not yet. The $125 Canon EF 50mm 1.8 lens was still a little out of my price range at the moment. So I ended up purchasing a similar Yongnuo EF YN 50mm 1.8 lens which was only $49.88 and since I had a $50 Amazon gift card, it was pretty much free for me. At least, it didn’t feel like I was losing money for a hobby that I’m uncertain about turning into a career yet. I tried researching to figure out what the major differences between these two lens are other than the brand.
So far, I quite like this lens. I got it in the mail when I was with Sierra, so obviously that meant I could do a test shoot. We just sat in her room and took some photos of her smoking. So far, I like the quality and the sort of photos this lens allows me to capture. At some point in the future, I do plan on investing in an actual Canon lens, but for now, this gets the job done. Here are some photos from my test shoot. *Keep in mind that we didn’t set up any lighting, nor were we really prepared for this shoot at all*
